Platform flexibility enables efficient and agile manufacturing for today’s dynamic markets.

October 28, 2015 – Universal Instruments will demonstrate both its high-speed flexible Fuzion1-30™ and ultra-flexible Fuzion1-11™ platforms at Productronica 2015, held November 10–13 at the Munich Trade Fair Center, Germany. Complementing these solutions on the booth will be the Polaris Assembly Cell, offering cost-effective performance for extreme odd-form automation and light mechanical assembly applications. Universal will exhibit on Hall A2, Booth 459 in cooperation with channel partner, smartTec GmbH.

“As the diversity of the products in the electronics markets continues to expand, so too does the diversity of the assembly requirements for these products,” said Universal Instruments Vice President of Marketing, Glenn Farris. “Manufacturers are now tasked with creating a dynamic production model that is agile and ready for the next challenge; and that’s where Universal’s solutions portfolio delivers substantial value.”

Farris continued, “Here at Productronica, we’re highlighting our versatile odd-form and automation solutions, which are well-suited to the Automotive and Industrial markets in Europe.  Automotive applications, in particular, can require multiple assembly technologies and processes, and we’ve had great success developing complete solutions for a variety of applications in this arena.”

Universal will feature two variants of its award-winning Fuzion® Platform on the booth. Fuzion1-30 is powered by a 30-spindle FZ30™ placement head, delivering throughputs up to 35,000 cph while still accommodating components from 0201 metric to 30mm square and boards up to 508mm x 1016mm. Further extending this flexibility is Fuzion1-11 – the fastest and most versatile multifunction platform. Fuzion1-11 places a full range of standard surface mount and non-traditional components up to 150mm square and 40mm tall, with 5kg placement force.

Universal’s Polaris Assembly Cell will also be on the booth. Polaris supports the mixed requirements of the Automotive and other markets by performing a wide range of processes, including pick and place for large and complex devices, dispensing, bar code reading, vision, screw driving, and labeling. A standard interface and large tooling portfolio enable efficient automation of a wide range of complex front- and back-end assembly applications on a common platform.
